Gippsland Water Dragon

This is a Gippsland Water Dragon. These water dragons are aquatic lizards which spend much time perching in trees along creeks and rivers. If danger approaches they dive into the water and either remain underwater or swim away, they can remain underwater for over an hour.

Water Dragons are omnivorous, they eat both plant and animal matter, frogs, yabbies, other aquatic things together with fruits, berries and flowers. They can eat under water.

This image has been captured with a Nikon FE camera on film and scanned then processed in Photoshop.

Beautiful Fungi

Sometimes a simple subject can turn out to give a satisfactory image. This simple fern frond was processed in photoshop using sharpening and enhancing the color saturation to give what I think is a satisfactory image. Image was taken with the Nikon 105mm VR Micro lens.

Some Simple Tree Ferns in Nature

This simple image of some tree fern fronds was taken with the Nikon D2H and 300mm, f/4 lens. It was taken at !/80 second, f/5.6. The image was processed in Photoshop with some slight sharpening and a small increase in saturation.

In this image I used a long Nikon 300mm f/4D IF ED AF-S Lens for the capture. Normally I would not use such a long lens for an image such as this but it was what I had on the camera at the time. I love the Nikon D700 camera with this lens as the camera can be used at very high ISO settings without any substantial noise in the images. Many other cameras are also suitable and it is really a matter of your personal choice. Interesting images can be obtained by getting in close with a longer lens and just capturing some part of a plant.
